This includes the all important class timetable!
To the despair of many students, cheating is not permitted in Macquarie University exams. Mobile phones are not permitted to be carried into the exam room – nor are any bags, which must be stored in the ‘Bag Room’ specified on the door of the exam room. Candidates must sit in their designated seats only.
Students are required to sit their examinations at the time and date specified in the exam timetable, there are no re-sits, early, or late examinations. No excuses are accepted outside of illness, compassionate cause, or genuine misadventure. The academic staff are no longer able to accommodate students to take exams earlier or later than the specified date.
The long and short of it? DON'T MISS YOUR EXAM!
Do not make any travelling plans for any time before the last day of the exam period, unless the Final Exam Timetable has been released.
The Draft Exam Timetable is generally available in about week 6 of the semester. The draft timetable is not final and frequently varies significantly from the Final Exam Timetable. If two of your exams are scheduled at the same time, you need to inform the Student Enquiry Service.
The Final Exam Timetable is usually available in week 9 or 10 (the first week after mid-semester), no changes are made to the exam schedule after this point.
Both timetables are available online from http://www.student.mq.edu.au/, or a paper copy is posted outside the Student Enquiry Service in the courtyard of the university.

Macquarie University is one of only two universities in Australia that gives students the opportunity to complete an official award of the University while participating in the Study Abroad Program.
Does this sound too good to be true?
Study Abroad at Macquarie for a semester and you can receive a Macquarie University Study Abroad Certificate.
What does that mean?
It means that in this day and age where every little
qualification and skill is needed to get the job you want, you
have an additional university qualification to help you
when the big job hunt arrives. You are effectively a graduate
of Macquarie, and that rocks.
How does it
work?
A standard full-time load at Macquarie is 12 credit points per semester – that’s the equivalent of 3-4 individual subjects.
The requirements are as follows:
| Total Credit Points Needed | Credit Points at 2nd or 3rd Year Level Required |
|
| Study Abroad Certificate | 12 (3 to 4 subjects) | 6 (2 subjects) |
The credit points at 2nd or 3rd year level are required to be the same discipline: Commerce, Environmental Studies, Arts, Science, Technology or Education.
These disciplines cover the following Subject Areas:
| Discipline | Area of Study |
|---|---|
| Commerce | Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Business, Business Law, Demography, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Statistics |
| Environmental Studies | Earth and Planetary Science, Resource and Environmental Management, Human Geography, Physical Geography |
| Arts | Aboriginal Studies, Ancient History, Anthropology, Australian Studies, Asian & European Languages, Critical & Cultural Studies, English, Modern History, Media, Multimedia, Music, Philosophy, Politics, Sociology, Women’s Studies, Communication |
| Science | Biology, Chemistry, Linguistics, Math, Physics, Earth and Planetary Science, Psychology, Human Geography, Physical Geography |
| Technology | Computing, Information Technology, Electronics |
| Education | Early Childhood Education, School Education |
A couple of examples:

| ECON210 | – 3 credit points Economics (Commerce), |
| BIOL108 | – 3 credit points Biology (Science), |
| ABST100 | – 3 credit points Aboriginal Studies (Arts). |
The student has therefore completed 12cp, including 6cp in one discipline at 2nd year or above (Commerce). They will qualify for a Study Abroad Certificate in Commerce.
