The academic programs available at Macquarie provide exciting choices for students. Our postgraduate degrees offer students the opportunity to upgrade their professional qualifications with leading academics in their fields. The programs are designed to offer the best and latest theoretical research together with the application of knowledge.
Macquarie also offers students the choice of taking intensive pre-degree English courses in order to obtain the necessary language and study skills to succeed in a University environment. Macquarie University’s National Centre for English Language Teaching and Research (NCELTR), located on campus, offers specially designed English courses for students who wish to enter the University, or who wish to improve their overall communication skills. Courses include English for Business and International Communications, Direct Entry English Program and the Introductory Academic Program. Other support programs exist for students who have started their studies at Macquarie and offer tuition in computer skills, academic writing, desktop publishing, library research skills and many other areas.
Students who need to complete a foundation course or preliminary program prior to starting their university program, can undertake these studies with the Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT). Located on campus, the Institute provides courses in the areas of arts, business/commerce, communication and computing to international students. The courses provide SIBT students with advance standing into Macquarie University programs
Further information on SIBT courses can be found at: http://www.sibt.nsw.edu.au/.
Students who do not meet the admissions requirements for some programs offered by the Division of Economic and Financial Studies may be required to complete a Preliminary Program at the Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT) which is located on the Macquarie University campus.
For the Business, International Business, Information Technology and Marketing programs (but not Accounting programs) students need to have completed foundation units in their bachelor degree programs.
Students without an adequate foundation are required to complete a four unit preliminary program before enrolling in any MCom or MIB unit. Completion of a preliminary program leads to a Macquarie University award, which is obtained in addition to the MCom or MIB degree. Further information can be found at: www.gacc.mq.edu.au/prelprog.htm
