When to pay your fees

At the time you accept your offer to study at Macquarie University, there are two payments you need to make:

The fees payable before starting at Macquarie

  1. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
OSHC must be paid for the entire duration of your course. Click here for more information on Overseas Student Health Cover
  2. The commencement fee. The commencement fee is a portion of your tuition fee that you need to pay when you accept an offer to study at Macquarie University. The value of the commencement fee you need to pay will be listed on your offer letter. It is usually set at around AU$10,000 (or as printed on your offer letter). This commencement fee is taken off your first semester tuition fees (so it is not in addition to your tuition fees). If your first semester’s tuition fees are greater than AU$10,000, you should be prepared to pay the balance of your fees during your enrolment week.

The fees payable during your time at Macquarie

After your first semester at Macquarie, you need to pay your tuition fees each study period (two to three times a year, depending on how many study periods your course has each year). The due date for tuition fees is usually the Friday before the normal study period commences. More information on fee due dates can be found at www.ofs.mq.edu.au/student_finances/

Students do not receive an invoice when their fees are due; so you need to check eStudent before each semester to check what you owe. The amount will depend on the number of credit points you are enrolling in for that semester.
