Linguistics - Distance Programs
The Department of Linguistics at Macquarie is the largest of its kind in Australia, with substantial undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs.
Linguistics at Macquarie offers the following postgraduate programs via distance mode:

General applied Linguistics, Teaching English to Speaker of Other Languages (TESOL) or Language for Specific Purpose (LSP).

• Postgraduate Certificate in Editing and Electronic Publishing

Program Descriptions
The Applied Linguistics courses are intended for practitioners in a variety of professions whose work is concerned with applied language study.
The Editing and Electronic Publishing is designed for those with at least one year of experience in editing, journalism, publicity or editorial management. It aims to widen and develop professional skills across a range of styles, scenarios and madia for publishing.
Resources and Support for Distance Students
There is a high level of support for distance students. Academic staff are available by email, fax, and telephone. The Linguistics Department’s Postgraduate Office is devoted to dealing with administrative and practical needs of distance students, and students have access to a wide range of resources.
Graduating students are welcome to attend their graduation ceremony in Sydney. For students who cannot attend, degrees are conferred at the ceremony in absentia. Degrees and transcripts are sent to students by registered mail.
