The Division of Economic and Financial Studies/GACC and the Division of Information and Communication Sciences/PPDP jointly offer the Master of Commerce in Information Systems and Technology (MIST) and the Master of Information Technology (MIT) as a double degree program. Successful students will graduate with full recognition by Macquarie University that two postgraduate degrees have been earned.

The MIST/MIT double degree is designed as a career-relevant pathway for postgraduate students wishing to study in the combined areas of business, information systems and information technology.

Holding the MIST/MIT postgraduate qualification will be an advantage to graduates seeking work in areas such as business information systems design, information technology management and electronic commerce. 
Requirements - 2010 :  
Entry Requirements: Bachelor degree in any discipline from a recognised university with a GPA of at least 2.70 out of 4.00. However, a preference is given to applicants who hold a degree with a significant business, commerce or information systems/technology component, or a degree that demonstrates successful study of an academic or professional discipline in depth, such as economics, law, science, engineering or humanities.

Notes: Please note that a student's MCom specialisation in Information Systems and Technology will not be stated on their testamur (graduation certificate) but it will be included on their academic transcript.

Applicants are expected to have completed foundation units in their Bachelor degree. Students without an adequate foundation are required to complete a four-unit preliminary program before enrolling in any Master of Commerce unit.

Preliminary programs are conducted by the Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT), located on the Macquarie University campus. Preliminary programs can be commenced in any SIBT trimester (February, June or October) and take four months to complete. Students who complete a preliminary program will be awarded a Graduate Certificate in Information Systems and Technology.

The Graduate Certificate in Information Systems and Technology consists of four standard units: Accounting 1A, Business Principles, Introduction to Information Systems & Technologies, and Introductory Statistics. Where it is determined that a student has already adequately completed studies equivalent to one or more of these units, an elective unit can be substituted.

For units completed in 2011 (or 2012, depending on the duration of the course), you will pay the fee approved for the 2011 (or 2012) academic year respectively.

For students commencing in semester two, 2010: the 2010 fee listed will apply for your first semester of study only. The fee approved for 2011 will take effect from semester one, 2011.
