Please note the following Macquarie University Study Abroad tuition fees for the 2008 Academic Calendar are:
One semester: AUD$8,600
Two semesters: AUD$17,200
The fee quoted includes all tuition, compulsory administrative fees, Library and Students Union Fees. The fee does not include accommodation, books and other costs. These fees are up to AUD$2000 less per semester than some of Sydney's other major universities. Macquarie is committed to providing the best value for money study abroad program in the country.
The International Tuition Fee Refund Policy will apply to most refunds. If you are applying to Macquarie through a program, please contact the program administrators for refund policy information.
The Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is a compulsory charge made by the Australian Government to all Study Abroad students, the only exceptions being those students from Norway and Sweden - see here. Confirmation of Enrolment and subsequent visas cannot be issued without the OSHC having been paid in advance to Macquarie University - Macquarie International.
Worldcare ASSIST is Macquarie University's chosen provider of Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). There are two levels of cover a student can choose: silver and gold. The prices below are based on the silver cover fees.
To make your OSHC payment, go to the Macquarie University online fee paying service at onlinepayments.mq.edu.au. Once you're connected to the service, select "Other fees" to pay and enter the amount. Once you have completed the transaction, email a copy of your confirmation of payment to your study abroad advisor. Do not pay your OSHC directly to Worldcare Assist.
Specific details on the Worldcare policies are available from the Worldcare webpage at http://www.oshcworldcare.com.au/. Once again, be sure to pay your fees to Macquarie, not directly over the Worldcare site
Study Abroad students are required to pay their study abroad fee (which includes tuition and student fees) in advance. This, along with your health cover payment, is required before you are issued with a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) that allows you to get your student visa.
You can make your payment over the internet (we prefer this method) or by cheque.
Download an infosheet on how to pay your fees here (PDF ~ 25kb).
Study Abroad students who have enrolled at Macquarie through one of Macquarie's program providers or partner institutions may have "all inclusive" packages, and do not need to pay any further tuition or student activity fees to Macquarie. If you are unsure, write to edabroad@mq.edu.au.
If you are an exchange student from one of Macquarie's designated exchange partners you do not need to worry about paying any tuition or student activity fees to Macquarie, as you will pay your usual fees at your home institution.

Once applications have been approved and the OSHC has been received, students will be issued with an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment form (CoE), which is the document required in order to apply for a student visa for Australian universities. Students should take relevant documentation to their nearest Australian consulate or embassy and apply for their visa. Electronic visa processing is available in some countries. For further information please refer to the Department of Immigration, Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA).

Students who do not meet the English entry requirements above are advised to include a course of intensive English study in their first semester program (if coming for one year), or prior to commencing a one semester program of study. Depending on the student's level of English, this may take the form of a full-time intensive program (20 hours per week) at the University's language centre, National Centre for English Language Teaching and Research (NCELTR), or a mixed program involving a combination of language study at NCELTR and award course units. The fee structure and timetable is available on request or at www.nceltr.mq.edu.au/elp/dates.html.
Applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 out of 4 or equivalent to be eligible for the study abroad program. A GPA of 3.0 is required for the Internship Program. Individual subjects/units/ courses will be approved in accordance with selection criteria and previous studies. Transcripts of previous results with an explanation of grades are therefore critical documents that must be included with the application.
Macquarie University is the only university in Sydney that will guarantee your accommodation. We offer a range of accommodation, including temporary housing, permanent on- and off-campus accommodation, and advice on non-University off-campus housing.
As a study abroad or exchange student you are entitled to an Airport Pick-up, which you will need to register for before you arrive in Australia (see Accommodation and Airport reception).
A representative of Macquarie University will greet you at the arrival gates. There are two arrival gates 'AB' and 'CD', and there is a Meeting Point located halfway between the two. Your Macquarie representative will be waiting there for you with a Macquarie University sign. After 30 minutes if you cannot find the "pick up person" do not panic, call either 9850 7965 (9am - 5pm Mon-Fri) or 0419 014 745 or 0414 443 754 (other than office hours) and Macquarie International will advise you what to do next.
Detailed information about Macquarie accommodation and airport pickup service are available here (navigation tip: select your topic of interest from the menu in the left hand margin).
