Students who need to complete foundation courses or preliminary programs prior to starting Macquarie University programs can undertake these studies with the Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT). Located on the Macquarie University campus, SIBT is a private tertiary college operating under contract with the University and using its facilities and staff. SIBT provides admission to the University through its Certificate and Diploma programs in the following areas:
Applicants will normally have completed secondary Year 12 or equivalent. Students with lesser qualifications or a UAI of less than 66 must first undertake one of the relevant certificate programs. International students may present equivalent qualifications and satisfy the English Language entry requirements (for example IELTS 5.5).
SIBT also offers a preliminary qualifying program, and a Graduate Certificate of Business for students who may not have the necessary background for direct admission to several Masters degrees in Business/Commerce

The International College of Managment, Sydney (ICMS), offers two-year Diploma programs in the areas of Event Management, Hospitality Management and International Tourism. Students who successfully complete a Diploma can gain admission directly into the third year of the relevant Bachelor of Business Administration program (see below).
In addition to its Diploma programs, the College offers three-year Bachelor of Business Administration degrees in Event Management, Hospitality Management, International Tourism, Property Services Management and Retail Services Management. While all classes are taken at the ICMS campus, these degrees are awarded by Macquarie University and students have access to the University library for study and research.
All ICMS programs are designed to equip students with the managerial, practical and personal skills necessary to work in these international industries, and include a 38-week paid industry training component in the second year. Partnerships with "Cesar Ritz" Colleges (Switzerland) and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) also ensure global recognition of these programs.
ICMS is located at Manly, a Sydney suburb with sweeping views of the northern beaches and the harbour. The campus is 15 minutes from the city centre by fast ferry, and on-campus accommodation is available.

For students who have started their studies at Macquarie University, support programs are available in computer skills, academic writing, desktop publishing, library research skills and many other areas.
Macquarie University offers students the choice of taking intensive pre-degree English courses in order to obtain the necessary language and study skills to succeed in a University environment. Macquarie University’s National Centre for English Language Teaching and Research (NCELTR), located on campus, offers specially designed English courses for students who wish to enter the University, or who wish to improve their overall communication skills.

NCELTR is a leading research and development centre in the field of TESOL and provides support for the Australian Government’s Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP). In addition, the Centre is an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) centre and administers IELTS tests each month.
