Pathway Programs

 


Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT)

Students who need to complete foundation courses or preliminary programs prior to starting Macquarie University programs can undertake these studies with the Sydney Institute of Business and Technology (SIBT). Located on the Macquarie University campus, SIBT is a private tertiary college operating under contract with the University and using its facilities and staff. SIBT provides admission to the University through its Certificate and Diploma programs in the following areas:

  • Commerce/Business Administration
  • Administration
  • Computer Science
  • Mass Communications

Applicants will normally have completed secondary Year 12 or equivalent. Students with lesser qualifications or a UAI of less than 66 must first undertake one of the relevant certificate programs. International students may present equivalent qualifications and satisfy the English Language entry requirements (for example IELTS 5.5).

SIBT also offers a preliminary qualifying program, and a Graduate Certificate of Business for students who may not have the necessary background for direct admission to several Masters degrees in Business/Commerce

*For students interested in progressing to the Bachelor of Commerce - Actuarial Studies, additional first year units need to be completed before second year can commence. Students are advised to consult an SIBT Adviser for further information.

International College of Management Sydney (ICMS) 

The International College of Management, Sydney educates leaders in Business, Events Management, Hospitality Management, International Tourism, Strategic Property Management, Retail Management and Sport Management.

ICMS fosters management, leadership and business skills in its students by providing a balance of management and vocational training and a real culture of entrepreneurialism.

Students who complete the two year associate degree at ICMS can gain direct entry into the final year of the Macquarie University BBA.

The International College of Management, Sydney offers Diplomas as well as Associate and Bachelor Degree programs.

At the International College of Management, Sydney there is a strong belief that the best learning combines practical work with a strong theoretical foundation. Every undergraduate program includes nine months of paid industry training in a students chosen profession.

Learning facilities and resources offer the latest in design and technology, while professional training areas are fully equipped to industry standard.

Paid Industry Training

The Industry Training allows students to gain both the theoretical and practical skills and knowledge needed for these ever-growing international industries. The program is well structured, supervised and forms part of the course. For approximately nine months during the second year of study, students are placed in recognised organisations.
