How to Change Your Provider to Worldcare

  • You currently have cover with Medibank or another OSHC provider
  • You want to change to Worldcare OSHC

What You Need To Do

  • Purchase OSHC with Worldcare by:
    • Using your credit card and telephone 13 14 84,
    • or Using your credit card and completing an on-line application http://www.oshcworldcare.com.au/
    • or Sending a money order (available at Australia Post) or Australian cheque with a
      completed application form to Worldcare, PO Box 162, Toowong, Queensland 4066
    • or Using the payment facilities available at your institution
    • or Direct debit or telegraphic transfer direct to Worldcare (please ensure that your name and date of birth is clearly indicated on the TT or EFT description)
  • Advise Worldcare of your previous cover. Worldcare will also honor any waiting periods that you have previously served with another provider.
  • Cancel your existing cover with the previous provider
    You may be asked for proof of your current cover with Worldcare. You can show them:
    • Your Worldcare card
    • or Your policy confirmation
    • or Your payment receipt,
  • Obtain any refund due to you from your previous provider.

Case Studies

A student has 6 months cover, before their current OSHC with Medibank expires. The student wishes to transfer to Worldcare. The student changes providers by, buying a Worldcare OSHC membership. They then advise Medibank of their current cover with Worldcare and show evidence of their existing cover. They are then able to request and obtain a refund from Medibank for the remaining 6 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long after my cover has lapsed, can I pay to continue cover?
    A maximum of 2 months after your expiry date is the acceptable period to ensure continuity from your original expiry date. If payment is made after 2 months, a new application is required.

  2. Do I need to serve any waiting periods?
    As long as you have been in Australia and had OSHC for 12 months or more, you will not need to serve any waiting periods.

  3. Are there any exceptions?
    There are certain specific exceptions which is applicable to all OSHC providers. Please refer to the Policy document for further information.
