Fees Information
Tuition fees are payable each semester. The amount of tuition fees owing will be calculated after your enrolment is processed. An invoice will be sent to you during the first or second week of classes. The amount will depend on the number of credit points you are enrolling in for the semester.
The due date for tuition fees is the HECS Census Date. This date is usually 31 March (semester 1) and 31 August (semester 2), however, if this date falls on a weekend, the HECS Census Date will be moved to the Friday before that weekend.
This date is also the final date for changes to subject enrolment and withdrawals without academic penalty.
Continuing International Students can apply for an extension of time to pay tuition fees past the HECS Census Date if they have a GENUINE financial problem. Only cases that can be supported by documentation will be considered.
Unfortunately, there is no payment extension option for NEW Macquarie students. For your first semester at Macquarie, you must pay for your first semester tuition fee in full before a Confirmation of Enrolment will be issued and you can enroll for your course.
To apply for an extension of time to pay your fees:
- Complete an application for deferment of fees, including the signed declaration. This application form can be obtained from Macquarie International in Building E3A.
- Attach documentation to support your case. This may be a letter from your parents or sponsor explaining why your payment will be late. Please include a contact phone number of the person supplying the documentary evidence so we can verify the information provided.
- Copies of your bank statements for the last 6 months.
- Submit your completed application to Macquarie International.
When you submit your completed application, we will make a time for you to see an International Student Advisor. No appointments will be given unless a complete application has been submitted.
The application for extension of time to pay your fees must be submitted to Macquarie International within the first two weeks of classes.
The following examples will NOT be accepted as a genuine financial problem:
- Money being delayed because a term deposit has not matured
- Fees invoice not being received
Please note: Students who are waiting on payments from home country governments (ie. Financial Aid from Sweden, Norway, USA, Canada) should complete an "Advice of Delayed Payment" form, not a "Deferment of Fees" application.

Extending your Student Visa
To extend your student visa you must first apply for a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) form. To obtain a CoE you must complete the Application for Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) form and have it signed by the appropriate academic.
