Farewell Function

• Held at the end of each semester
• For international students who may not have the opportunity to attend their formal graduation ceremonies
• Have your photo taken in academic dress and celebrate the completion of your degree with family and friends
• The Vice- Chancellor usually presides over the Function, and will be on hand together with University staff to congratulate and farewell students
• Students are able to bring two guests to the Farewell Function 
         

How is the Farewell Function different to formal graduation?

• Students may not have officially qualified for their award. The Farewell Function is usually held the week after the exams have officially ended and academic results have not been released as yet.
• Students do not receive their official academic transcript or testamur. This will be received at the formal graduation ceremony once the student has qualified for their award.

How do I know if I have qualified for an award?

Please go to eStudent https://student1.mq.edu.au MY RESULTS – Check for Graduation to check if you have qualified for an award and to view your graduation ceremony details, after the final results have been released.

When do I graduate?

Students who qualify in December will have their degrees conferred at the April series of graduations and a graduation information pack will be mailed to them in late January.  Students who qualify in July will have their degrees conferred in September and a graduation information pack will be mailed to them in August.

What if I can not attend graduation but would like to have that experience?

If you can not attend your formal graduation ceremony but want to experience what it is like to attend a graduation ceremony then you should attend Macquarie International’s Farewell Function.

Can I graduate overseas?

Macquarie University conducts graduation ceremonies in Beijing, Hong Kong and Singapore. Please check the dates of these ceremonies by going to the graduation website at: http://www.graduation.mq.edu.au/
