Macquarie University’s intellectual and academic excellence is also reflected in its physical and social environment. Set in its spacious, rolling landscape is a wealth of social and cultural amenities for the convenience and enjoyment of students. These facilities include the Students at Macquarie (SAM) Students’ Union, a state-of the art library, a Health and Counseling Centre, sporting fields and gymnasium, a childcare centre, two hotels and places of worship for a variety of religions. Shops and services on campus include a pharmacy, co-op bookshop, dentist, hairdresser and three banks.

For the cultural enrichment of our students, there are facilities, activities and events including an art gallery, many historical, scientific and cultural museums, Australia’s largest sculpture park, the Lighthouse Theatre, the Macquarie Singers, many students clubs and societies, sport association, market days and theme weeks.

The campus is also handy to one of Sydney’s largest and most modern shopping centers, The Macquarie Centre accommodates five major retail stores along with a 16-screen Greater Union cinema complex and 230 specialty shops including supermarkets, and an advanced Medical Centre. A bus terminal is situated outside the Centre which provides regular bus services to major suburbs in Sydney.

The area around the campus is one of the most attractive and affluent in Sydney. The campus is surrounded by a major technology precinct and many bushland areas including Lane Cove National Park. It is easy to get to the University from the city centre, either by train or bus.

Access to other suburbs and downtown Sydney is quick and easy either by car (there is loads of parking within the University grounds) or by excellent bus services which run through the campus. The campus is also accessed by the M2 freeway and other major arterial roads.
