How do I find an internship placement?

While Macquarie University does not facilitate international internship placements, our database of organisations offering international internship opportunities should help you get started sourcing your own. Click here to download the database.

Can I get academic credit towards my degree for an internship?

Students may be eligible to undertake an internship in conjunction with a semester exchange program. Students will only receive academic credit towards their Macquarie degree if it is part of their degree.

Will an internship count towards my degree?

  • Students enrolled in a Macquarie degree program with an internship or placement component may count an international internship towards their degree. Students are required to consult their course convener to seek approval for any internship placement counting towards their degree.
  • Students undertaking a degree program without an internship component will not have their internship count towards their degree.

Will I be assisted with funding?

Students may be eligible for financial assistance through Macquarie University's International Travel Grant Scheme

Travel grant eligibility:

  • Students must be enrolled in a Macquarie University degree (non-award students are not eligible for travel grants)
  • Students must have a satisfactory level of academic achievement, with a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Travel grant amounts will vary on the region/country of destination. Click here for further informtion.
  • If students are doing the internship as part of an exchange semester, there is no extra funding for the internship beyond their travel grant for exchange.
  • Please note that funding may vary from year to year. Award amounts are allocated to the Travel Grant Guidelines for the relevant year.
