Macquarie and the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) are now offering a new degree program in Sport Management.
Based at the beautiful sandstone ICMS campus in Manly, the Bachelor of Business Administration in Sport Management is unique both in Australia and internationally.
The degree combines specialist sport management theory with paid industry training to gain real-world experience.
“The course has been designed by the industry and what separates it from other programs is its inextricable link to real career opportunities,” says Deidre Anderson, founder of the program.
Deidre is a sport psychologist has assisted famous Australian sports stars Cathy Freeman and Ian Thorpe adjust to life after intensive Olympic competition.
When first creating the program, Deidre held a forum with Footballer Wayne Pearce, champion swimmer Shane Gould, Olympic gold-winning waterpolo coach Istvan Gorgenyi and NBL star Paul Maley to discuss the establishment of a new course in sport management.

 The Bachelor of Business Administration in Sport Management combines specialist sport management theory with paid industry experience
The course combines specialist units, such as Introduction to Sport Management and Sports and Event Marketing, and business units, including Business Organisational Principles. Students will learn from industry based case studies analysis and simulations.
Deidre believes, “Graduates will contribute to the ongoing development of Australian and international sport.”
ICMS has small class sizes to facilitate group discussions and participation and draws students from over 65 counties.
