Get ready for MacFest 2008 next week

Semester Two kicks off with one of the key events of the Macquarie University calendar - MacFest 2008.

MacFest 2008 will comprise of over 80 market stalls in the Central Courtyard, showcasing the numerous services, lifestyle and leisure activities the University has to offer.

A great mix of community and corporate exhibitions are also on hand providing some great free samples and offers.

There will be three days of stalls, marquees and entertainment held in the courtyard and to finish the festivities for the week there is a beginning of Semester Party at the UBar on Thursday night from 8pm.

Students will have the opportunity to join various Student Groups, as well as see what other services are on offer at the University, meet other students and have a great welcome to the new semester.

There are over 50 Student Groups to choose from representing study areas (for example Law, Actuarial Studies, Geoscience, Chiropractic and Psychology), many major religions, political parties and special interests (such as drama, anime and debating).

Many nationalities on campus have their own clubs, including Indonesia, Afghanistan, Turkey, Korea, Greece, Iran and Japan, just to name a few.

There are also political and social change societies including the United Nations Society, Macquarie University Aid for Africa Program, the Oaktree Society and The Red Cross Society.

Other events throughout the week range from entertainment and bands, DJs, sport and leisure activities, arts and cultural performances and barbeques.

MacFest 2008 will take place from Tuesday, August 5 to Thursday, August 7 from 10am to 3pm.
