Are you the next big thing?

Are you a creative mind who would like AU$10,000 to start your artistic career and be mentored by Australia’s leading industry figures?

The Qantas Spirit of Youth Awards (SOYA) is one of Australia’s leading grants program for new creative talent.

The grants enable young creative innovators to expand their horizons, build up their business base, and learn the ropes from leading industry figures and some of the greatest creative minds in the world.

Now in its fifth year, SOYA recognises excellence and innovation in the arts, and gives young, talented Australians the financial and professional support they need to share their talents with the world.

After his 2007 Fashion win, the fashion world are falling over themselves to be the next to salute designer Ben Pollitt, the man behind international label Friedrich Grey

Fashion designers, musicians, artists, visual communicators, object designers and filmmakers aged 30 and under are invited to enter their work for the chance to win AU$5,000 in cash, AU$5,000 in Qantas flights and mentorships with leading lights of the international creative community.

Last year’s awards attracted over 40,000 entries from 4,600 creative young Australians.

This year’s mentors include Vince Frost, legendary art director and Creative Director of Frost Design, John Polson, film director and founder of Tropfest, and photojournalist Stephen Dupont, in addition to continuing SOYA mentors Marc Newson, Elizabeth Ann Macgregor, and Peter Morrissey.

Peter Morrissey has been a major force in Australian fashion for twenty years, and today his brand encompasses a diverse range of products for men and women, from fashion to accessories, jewellery, sunglasses and underwear.

“It is a great honour to be appointed the Ambassador for SOYA, which is such an amazing initiative. Supporting, assisting and nurturing new talent is something that I strongly believe in,” says Peter.
