Macquarie International has numerous long-term accommodation options available for International students. You may choose not to take up any of these options, or your long-term accommodation may not be available for your anticipated arrival date. In either of these cases, you may initially require temporary accommodation when you first arrive. It is recommended that you book yourself into five nights’ temporary accommodation. Hopefully during that time you will be able to secure long-term accommodation with the help of our Accommodation Officers. It is usually possible to extend your temporary accommodation once you arrive should you require more time to find suitable long-term accommodation.
Macquarie International has a list of places regularly used by students for temporary accommodation. The accommodation ranges from on-campus residential college rooms to guest houses and youth hostels. Most guest houses and youth hostels are located in North Ryde (near Macquarie University), St Leonards (about 25 minutes to Macquarie University by bus) and Sydney City (up to an hour away by public transport but central to all city locations including tourist attractions, restaurants and entertainment venues). Prices range from approximately $28.00 to $249.00 per person, per night. Students should have payment ready in cash when they arrive (though most places will also accept credit card - usually Visa or Mastercard). Most accommodation providers expect you to pay accommodation up-front on arrival.
If you would like to book temporary accommodation, the following providers are frequently used by Macquarie University students. You will need to contact them directly to make temporary accommodation bookings. Please do not fill out an airport pickup request form until your accommodation reservations are confirmed.
