Airport Reception

 

General Information

This is a FREE service available to all new Macquarie University International students.

Attention SIBT students: To qualify for the free Airport Reception you must have already applied and secured accommodation at Macquarie Apartments (which does not include residential colleges). Otherwise you will be required to make your own arrangements.

PLEASE NOTE: The free Airport Reception Service is not available for RETURNING students.

Macquarie University has a 'Meet and Greet' team who will come and meet you personally at Sydney International Airport provided you notify Macquarie International one week in advance of your confirmed flight details.

This is done by completing the 2008 Airport Reception Form on-line:

The Meet and Greet team will pick you up and take you to your arranged accommodation. Please note that this is a free service available to all new Macquarie University International students. However, to make sure we have the correct airport arrival information, please apply on-line through our airport reception website. The accommodation office must be notified of any flight changes at least 72 hours before your arrival. Any changes given after 72 hours prior to your arrival will not be taken into consideration. If the Meet and Greet team are sent to meet you at the airport and you are not there, you will be charged a penalty of AU$50.

Upon arrival at Sydney International airport, please go to the MEETING POINT located between exit gates AB and CD and look for someone holding a Macquarie University sign. After 30 minutes if you cannot find "pick up person" do not panic - call either 9850 7965 (9am - 5pm Mon-Fri) or 0414 443 754 or 0419 014 745 (other than office hours) and the Macquarie International will advise you what to do next. You may be asked to get into a taxi and go straight to the accommodation so make sure you have at least AU$100. If this is the case you will need to ask the driver for a receipt and the Macquarie International will refund you the taxi fare. Please note: Driver's vehicles have limited luggage capacity. Whilst we will make every effort to fit all luggage into the vehicle some items may be too large to fit. In this situation you may need to make your own arrangement for transport of the goods at your expense.

Macquarie International will not pay any taxi refunds unless you call the Emergency Number 0419 014 745 and are specifically advised by Macquarie International to take a taxi to your temporary accommodation.

Applying for Airport Reception

Once your student visa is issued, purchase your airline ticket to Sydney and fill out the Airport Reception & Form which is available online.

Once we receive your Airport Reception Form Application, we will arrange for a driver to meet you at the airport. We will send you an e-mail or fax confirming the airport pick-up details.

You should receive an email confirming your airport reception no later than three days prior to your arrival date. Please contact Macquarie International immediately via e-mail at housing@io.mq.edu.au if you do not receive such confirmation.
